I hear a lot of Facebook hate, but it really doesn’t rain on my parade. I’ve always heard Facebook makes you feel wanted as a person with incredible perks. What are the best/coolest? Particularly the ones you don’t find on Glassdoor

  • Stock Refreshers and promotions tied to actual performance. People won't bullshit you here - if you do bad work they'll let you know what you're not doing, and if you do good work they'll show it by actually putting the money where the mouth is.

At Facebook, I've never regretted the hard work I put into something.

  • I am joining fb next month and just looked at all benefits. What stood out for me (compare to Salesforce which is known for great benefits).
    1. Medical insurance is way cheaper than Salesforce, if no dependents - completely free, without compromising on plan coverage (meanings plans are great).
    2. Maternity / paternity leave is 4 months (after disability leave 6-8 in case of maternity) and covered at 100%. At Salesforce duration is the same, but pay if only 80%. On top of that you get paid 4K for baby expenses as one time gift. At salesforce it’s $250 instead of 4K. Too late for me to appreciate this though, as I am done with having kids. But maybe some other folks will appreciate. Trust me, 26-28 weeks of maternity leave is great. Just trust me. Especially at 100% pay.
    3. Wellness benefit, can expense $700 or something like that a year. We have similar perk as Salesforce, $100 per month, and it’s great by the way. Can be used towards classes, gym membership, etc.
    4. Free food. At Salesforce, we don’t have free food. It truly sucks, trust me.

Yea, lunch is often 20 bucks in Seattle. Also, fb provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner onsite. That saves a lot of time and money. 30-50 bucks a day compared to amazon

$10 for lunch feels much worse than it is if you don’t like spending money.

If I tell you something honest, there is a lot of hate here on blind for Fb. But based on what I know from very good friends and having visited there few times, FB has quite a good benefits for its employees and it does try to provide good care to employees. They again provided another 1k for office setup after having given that in april.

The free dry cleaning service on campus, one of the best foods, free bike repair, wellness benefit, full reimbursement to conference around US, CEO does every week Q&A
where it’s quite open to ask lot of questions which what I heard would not have been encouraged in other companies, Invite friends, family like all day for free food whole day.
