Good Evening Blinders!

I am in the process of interviewing with a ground floor startup ( launched last month) as one of the first 10 employees. Founder has a history of successful growth startups and both Founder and Cofounder have deep ties with numerous VCs. Their current seed funding is a verified $4MM with plans to raise a round A in the near-ish term once the pilot concept is launched, so they aren’t crazy bootstrapped and I am being hired for connections and experience.

I have been given carte blanche to give them a comp figure. I have never worked for a startup and I know they should pay lower than average, but I always want to get the best deal possible. Do you folks have any suggestions/tips/thoughts on the matter?

I would be walking away from 2 years of vesting and a level up in mid-year. Would be head of partnerships and operations in the new gig.

Current TC: 185k

Proposed ask:
200k base
Bonuses dependent on performance and funding rounds
1% equity
Relocation allowance
