Can you guys suggest some good telescope to start with? I am at beginner level for this but very much interested in seeing planets with my eyes.
Any help will be appreciated.
If it matters, I am in India.
Thanks.

* I prefer a Newton reflector. If space and weight isn't a constraint, you can always go for Refractor types. Refractors are generally cheaper.
* Go for equitorial mounts. Difficult to initially setup but must if you want to manually record some timelines, or following a celestial body. Alt azimuth mount is easy to setup and good for observing something for shorter period of times.
* Celestron, Meade and Orion are good brands in normal price ranges.
Dm me. I can send you a ppt of a lecture I attended. It has basics of selecting a telescopes, major types of telescopes, mounts, and basics of Astronomy.
Hope this helps.
