I received verbal confirmation for a Level 65 offer and would love to bring in upleveling as part of negotiations. Has anyone done this successfully? Any recommendations on how I should bring this up/address this?

Additional context: Recruiter mentioned they usually have flexibility with leveling and wouldn’t tell me the exact level. HM confirmed level to be 65.

  • Sorry im backward, 65 is the lowest level for principal pm. At msft 2 levels make a title, so pm1 is 59-60, pm2 is 61-62, senior is 63-64, principal is 65-67. You could try for 66, but msft pays πŸ₯œ

Aah got it. Thanks for clarifying. I’m yet to see the offer so fingers crossed but it’s good information to level set.

Do you mind sharing the reasoning behind this? Didn’t realize there is a difference b/w odd and even levels.

I haven’t heard of such a thing either. So, are you telling me that it’s easier to go from even level to odd level during negotiations? Like L64 to L65? That’s a band jump and usually doesn’t happen. I question the source of this claim
