Would you notify a new employer that they’re hiring a racist person?

A colleague of mine has announced that she’s leaving the company. I, along with nearly every other minority member of our team have dealt with continuous micro aggressions from her. Should we (or one of us) inform the new company she’s joining the type of person they’re onboarding?

Curious, what sort of micro aggressions? I've seen this term being used very loosely.

Snowdeez I get up your point but

“Does this person provide value to my business? Even while fucking their cousin and eating watermelon? Managers should have no opinion on any other matter other then business affecting matters.”

This is used to justify why Antonio should stay at Apple, and given your stance I’m assuming you think Apple was right to fire him?

This division is why Aristotle argued for homogenous populations, and why America’s founders did too.

  • No. It’s not your business. If you didn’t have enough proof to get them fired at current employer what makes you think their new employer will take your word for it

This has gotta be a joke post or OP is a coward. "Micro" means extremely small and insignificant, so keep your trap shut and do your job

Overall this is very lame. If you didn’t have enough evidence or care to pursue this for 4 years at your current job, why would you stalk them at their new job and introduce what seem like baseless claims (based on the fact you never reported them where you work)

2 past team members and I have reported to HR... but they just say it’s he said/she said and nothing ever gets done about it...I truly don’t appreciate your tone or assumptions... I posted here to seek advice as I know my efforts at my current workplace were futile... but I (and several other team members) know how horrible it feels to be around someone like my colleague...and I would hate for anyone else to have to deal with such toxicity... please refrain from making assumptions about me and my experiences... I’m happy to answer to questions... but don’t appreciate your hostility...I absolutely did not stalk her and what I went through is not baseless

OP, in all honesty you need to grow a backbone. Life is difficult and people are rude. If HR didn't do anything then it's well below the "acceptable behavior" threshold. I suggest recalibrating your own expectations of how others act.

  • I was thinking about this too. I was working for a big tech company and this director made a few racists comments and was eventually asked to leave. Since I was on the receiving end of this racism, I was shocked at how the company gave him a going away party.

Then he got a director role at another big company.

    • You’re being complicit. Let the new company know about his racist behavior. You can remain anonymous, and let the company investigate if they want to.

I’m so sorry you had to experience this... it’s very frustrating...and so sad...growing up here I never faced as much racism as I have these past few years...
