How senior is a “lead” role at Apple? This is for non tech. Whats the next level after “lead”? Director? And how many years out is a Lead to Director promo? Saw roles such as Appstore lead, marketing lead etc at Apple. Any idea how this would translate in terms of level and comp to Amazon L7 earning on the mid-high end of the band? TC = 370K
No such thing as a lead. Leveling depends on interview performance. A lead can be any level.
Even ICT4s can be leads, and I think that’s the bare minimum.
Yep ICT4 is a “lead” at bare minimum.
Apple has "IC" and "ICT" levels for individual contributors. Those are the only levels used for compensation. All other titles in job postings or on LinkedIn are irrelevant to your pay. You can call yourself "senior staff lead Superninja of machine learning" on LinkedIn or your resume. Apple don't care. But it matters to many people, and that's reasonable: if you have a PhD in teleportation, for instance, you'd want to be known as a researcher rather than a programmer, since tech has a very serious caste system.
In my team everybody is a “lead” of something or the other even though they are new college grads.
As far as I know there is no official lead title.
