I’m single, 28, male. I moved back home in Upsatate NY suburbs last year during the pandemic. It has been nice saving up some extra cash, spending time with family, getting to know my nephew/niece, etc. But I don’t have any friends here. I literally don’t talk to anyone besides my family and virtual coworkers (WFH is making me depressed too but that’s another topic). I went to a few meet-ups but they’re not the crowd I enjoyed being around (much older, different life stages, different priorities and careers/industries). It just seems impossible to make friends, and not being in NYC or a real city is making me feel depressed. I’m thinking of moving back to the city. My company went fully remote going forward so there’s no need for me to move back to NYC, but I just need to be around people my age, same interests, and have some dating life before I turn even more gross. The rent seems like it’s way above the pre-pandemic days so it may not make sense to move back until early next year.Should I stay or move back?
For people who voted move to a different city, where do you recommend?
