Looking for some advice and possibly some referrals
Hello everyone, I'm a new grad that just graduated in May. I completed my BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering (focused on Communications, Control Systems, and Reinforcement Learning) and have had a couple of SWE internships. The only big name being at KPMG (during COVID). I was told by the other engineers there that though I have a return offer I should keep my options open, particularly regarding tech and quant finance.
I've spent the last few weeks leetcoding and I'm starting to feel confident. I haven't done too many but towards the end of my degree I took a grad level programming course about designing algorithms which definitely helped me with the leetcode way of thinking. I've done a majority of the Blind 75 and am now working my way down the Google and Facebook lists as I hear these are good practice for all interviews.
The advice I'm looking for is about whether I should start applying right away or wait until I have some more leetcodes under my belt? Additionally if I do get contacted for an interview, would I be allowed to schedule it 2 weeks - 1 month in the future to give myself more time to prepare or is a month too long?
I appreciate any help you guys can give me. Also I know that quant firms do not do referrals, but if anyone would be willing to help me with some tech company referrals I would greatly appreciate it. Particularly Facebook, since I noticed their official New Grad SWE role just opened up a couple of days ago.
