I will complete a year at my employer in the next 6 months. Can anyone help me with what paperwork I might need to get an FMLA through once I cross the 1 year mark.
Also has anyone been in this situation

FMLA is generally unpaid time off which causes a conflict.
To be eligible you’d need to have your employer pay you during the leave period.
Your best bet is to talk to your manager and HR.
You’ll need to do that at some point in any case.
Wish you the best for your dad.
Part of the problem is that there are two different governmental entities involved, INS and DOL.
It’s possible but not simple.
They just need to talk to their HR and take it from there.
I don’t understand why people ask these questions on blind. The best and first place to ask is their manager/HR. They have to do that regardless so might as well just ask right from the start.
Or if the questions are as trivial and universal as you allude, where every manager/HR knows the answers, then why not ask on Blind?
Also, any FMLA you take, even if STDI, is "unpaid". The 60% of base you get is considered "unpaid". Doesn't preclude folks on visa from taking it.
