Hi.
I had Google onsite interview this month. I did around 350+ leetcode problems and was also practicing interviews in pramp. I felt lucky as I was moved to direct onsite. I am feeling really bad that I ruined this great opportunity. The worst part is that I can easily think of the optimal solution for 3 coding rounds out of 4 during 15 min break after each rounds. I was so nervous and couldn't think clearly during interviews. Interviewers were so great and the questions weren't that difficult except for one round.
When recruiter contacted me after onsite, I can see that he was also disappointed by the sound of his voice. However he mentioned that I could try again after a year, but worried if I will really be allowed to interview as my performance was poor.
Also I could take some suggestions on how to overcome nervousness during interviews.

You know what did it for me? I interviewed at other places a few weeks/days before the Google on-site. By the time I got to the Google interviews I was so cynical and tired of it that I really didn't care about the outcome. Turns out I solved a few tough problems without trying too hard. I would have never passed if I cared deeply about the result.

When having anxious thoughts it's easy to get in your own way.

This is a seriously good advice. I went into FB onsite without worrying, but not because I was burned out by other interviews (I was), but because I wasn't really hoping to get in. Decreasing anxiety helps a ton.

You are not alone. Keep practicing. I'm also counting days of 1year cooling off period.

If it makes you feel any better I got into google without any practice whatsoever a few years back (the recruiter later said something a lack of coding skills lol). Having worked there I still cannot believe why everyone thinks they are a good company. In my book, they are firmly at the bottom among my past employers, and I've had many.

G and FB believe and know that a bad interview may definitely not mean a bad engineer. So they wouldnโ€™t blacklist you just because you didnโ€™t do well on this one. Donโ€™t be too hard on yourself, and keep working on your skills till you get the next chance.
On a different note, Iโ€™ve my G on-site coming up in a few weeks. May I DM you for some pointers?

It's ok to perform bad, this happens with everyone. Try some contest and solve the problems with time bound. 350 is a good number, you don't need more. LC has mock interviews for coding, try them too for practice.
