Wealthfront gains

I set my risk as highest (10/10). The past year was bullish with snp500 up 20% yoy and yet Wealthfront has only gained about 3% yoy for me. It shows 20%+ gain on US stocks and this alone is more than the 3% gain on the whole portfolio. And there are barely any negatives on other part of the portfolio. What is going on? Are the fees eating up all the gains? Poll: post your wf gain this past year.

All the growth is in AANG. SV is propping the market up.

Nvidia 152 OP Sep 11, 2018

Irrelevant. This doesn’t answer my question.

Without understanding your portfolio how will anyone answer your convoluted question?

Bloomberg Yyetgb258w Sep 11, 2018

I'm at 14% on the year, 9/10 risk

LinkedIn G-MEIND Sep 11, 2018

Are you sure Bloomberg? For the calendar year I am at -3.5%, I looked at the distribution, it doesn’t change much between 8.5 and 9

Google bakayarou Sep 11, 2018

My time-weighted is 17%, money-weighed is 5%. Risk 10

Just do the calculation yourself if you are suspicious. All your transactions are listed so you know your positions across assets.

Reddit kRFE20 Sep 11, 2018

Also emerging markets which you are probably in is way down this year

LinkedIn G-MEIND Sep 11, 2018

I feel the international market exposure is too high in WF, EM are down 17%

Amazon SWGMA Sep 11, 2018

WF sucked really bad this year. They need to look at their algorithms

Hired mwLS21 Sep 11, 2018

Just buy the damn index fund yourself. I am up 16% this year.

Google dasher1 Sep 11, 2018

which one did you buy?

Amazon rbtvdhw Sep 11, 2018

Agreed, bought schb and was done with it. 0.03% total fees and up big. Wealth front is a scam and here's the proof

Microsoft ocndksixua Sep 11, 2018

I'm also noticing my wealth front gains we're garbage.

I have AMZN, AAPL and MSFT, more than 40%return, does that answer your question?

Facebook ScubaDiver Sep 11, 2018

-1.19% time-weighted return for 2018. I’m happy with that, considering a) the considerable TLH (232k for me), and b) the fact that most asset classes are down. Sure, WF would have performed better if it was 80% VTSAX, but that’s not really a fair comparison.

LinkedIn G-MEIND Sep 11, 2018

Holy shit, how much do you have in WF

Facebook ScubaDiver Sep 11, 2018

$5m-ish
