FAANG is a brand value. They might not be the highest return on your time investment. Companies slow down as they grow and startups provide a breathe of fresh air for someone that worked in conglomerates

Prestige means a lot to normal people. I recommend you not taking either. Joining opendoor or upstart is never a good conversation in family time.

One of my friend work at upstart and he mentioned great things - said wlb/mission is great and people are nice not egoistic like faang people. Their stock can easily go up a lot. opendoor is in house flipping which need lot of capital and mortgage rates are going higher so all home co's like zillow, redfin, opendoor are down and will be down for a long time. Its a simple decision - upstart fintech is the future. i will be trying there for machine learning role soon but i need to prepare first but i hate to do leetcode practice

What does a TPM do and how's it different than a PM?

I use an analogy to describe the roles.
TPM is the driver for the product
Prod manager is the navigator for the product.
The roles can be done by the same person but the scope can increase when we allocate a dedicated role for each swim lanes.

  • od: 5k sign on bonus seems very low. they don't give more to balance out things like bonus you leave on the table when leaving a job middle of year, unvested RSUs, etc
