Does Rakuten give joining bonus for new joiners ? I was told they don't offer joining bonus and they just give base package and stocks part of TC. Can someone confirm the same ? Also how does their yearly increments looks ?#jobopening #hiring #rakuten @rakuten
Not joined that, but Internet says Culture is very tough .
Facebook bro already told what i wanted to say. Please No No No
Is this for shopstyle or different org with rakuten?
I didn't get one back in the day. And stock is dependent on performance; it isn't guaranteed. Also, you need to accumulate 100 shares' worth of stock options before a block of them is granted, and once it is granted it takes four years to vest. (Shorter if you have multiple blocks.) So the whole stock thing feels like something of a scam, unless you know you're going to be with the company for many years.
Interviews are going on. Will share once I get all the details. Posted this question to know more details.
They can give relocation which is kind of a sign on bonus.
Is this for the US? You can ask for sign up bonus and/or relocation. Stock vest every year in increments (not sure about the other comments but you can cash out 100% after 4 years). They give anual refreshers too. Rakuten is changing and the company and its culture is getting better. There’re a lot of chronic complainers hating everything around, not sure why. Depending on the company your experience could be awesome or a bit boring or irrelevant.
The complainers are around because Rakuten is still a "black company" (Japanese term) for all but the top employees. Sneaky salary cuts, overtime, harassing managers who are themselves mistreated. In Tokyo people are still starting at 3.6M yen ($35k US) and not everyone can move up from there.
@tooQ10, do you work in the US? I definitely see some of the issues you mention but some teams are pretty good. We don’t do overtime and I can’t complain about comp, but something tells me I’m going to be disappointed in the next salary review...
I was a Rakutenians and I will tell you the truth. First year was okayish, second year..not so much, getting worst from there. You will realize you are there to "maintain" and the culture of Japanese corporation is quite difficult to change. Never change big, only do small change which means only maintain what they have to prevent big catastrophy issue..especially in ecommerce market, they seem to lose more market and always focus on money..
Whatever they give you, it is so little that is is inconsequential. Avoid if possible. Asakai anyone?...
Are you saying to avoid the offer from them ? Any specific reason ?
Glassdoor reviews, read them.
