microfrontend hype, what big companies actually do this?

my company is so determined to have a microfrontend solution, because they think everyone else is doing it. they want to be able to have host A load any multitude of other internal sites without release of host A, but allowing those othet internal sites to release anytime they want. first question. Does Amazon, Google or any other major company out there use microfront ends? second question: is there a better soltuion than using iframe or runtime js injection?

I have no idea what you mean by "they want to be able to have host A load any multitude of other internal sites without release of host A" but Amazon's retail website is on 'microfrontend' architecture for years. Using internal framework, each page is divided in to slots and each slot can be configured so the content is retrieved from different services.

portmanteau of microservices and frontend. It's also the reason why my friend says he has a hard time finding a girl.

Let me try to clarify. You have an existing application β€œA”. You want to add another application β€œB” to app β€œA”, so visually it appears just a part of app β€œA”. You want to be able to deploy β€œB” and have those changes applied without ever touching app ”A” codebase. App β€œB” could exist anywhere and be anyone app.
