For companies like Ms you either need, a referral, a recruiter reach out or you need to be within the first 10 applicants to a position. They have over 1k applicants per posting and tend to cut off resume scanning after 200 or something like that

It depends. You need a referral in the BG you are applying for and there needs to be synergy between the role and your past experience. Keep applying .. never stop.. it took me 3 yrs almost to get my resume through the system

The job has already been filled by the time you see it in the portal. I had two people refer me, and no one reached out.

On the Digital Mktg side, depending on the team, they generally fill FTE roles with their existing Vendor pool. The headcount is opened usually with that vendor in mind, and they have to interview a minimum amount of people before they can offer the job. I would either network with people on the team you want to be in so the referral gets in before the job is posted, or join one of the Vendor teams & let your MSFT leads know you'd love to go FTE eventually.
