I’m wondering if I should take 7k for 3 months or let MSFT handle my flights and housing. Do you have any experience to share about it? Thank you
Let msft handle it. Intern housing is a much more social thing
Interned last summer at MSFT, took stipend, was good because I had someone I already wanted to live with, but if you don't have anyone you're planning on living with yet I'd definitely take Corp housing and get the car option. You could get unlucky and get placed in UDistrict with a longer commute but a lot of interns get placed in Redmond or the overlake area in the same hotels. It's a very good option for meeting other interns and hanging out after work
Unlucky and placed in UDistrict? What intern prefers to live on the Eastside over UDistrict? Lol.
I meant moreso if you're under 21 and don't like long commutes, if you're over 21 and are fine with 45 minutes to work and back then no doubt it'd be good Also you have no choice in how close you'll be to your office so I know quite a few people who had to switch to the car option because they lived somewhere away from main campus and had to work in Samm
You'll meet a lot of people if you take corp housing, I really recommend it. With an earlier start date, you might get placed in a really nice hotel (i.e., Marriott) w/ free breakfast.
$7k won't be enough for decent accommodation unless you already have roommates to share costs with.
There are several housing options. Which housing unit did you get offered?
None yet
What type of several options? Do you have any examples?
Is it 7k post tax ?
Pre tax
Do they give a single room ?
