Money talks

Oracle moRr3t Jan 22, 2020

No matter how much shit talk happens about Oracle in this post, I can guarantee two things. 1. Other two companies won’t match oci 2. OP will join oci. FYI, we have been going out of business for the past five years. Somehow it keeps postponing. It’s a conspiracy I think.

Oci is dying don’t take short term gains over a longer term loss

Microsoft 10c5292v Jan 22, 2020

What long term loss do you think there would be? If OCI dies, then move to msft or amzn. Taking the extra $100k is a no brainer.

Oracle fSIW60 Jan 22, 2020

I agree , only thing is Oracle is heavy on RSU’s and they give it because of the uncertain future and it vests once a year . So if they lay-off someone at the 11th month the TC and extra 100k is all poof

This makes 0 sense. A sinking ship won't just throw money at engineers

Tell msft and Amazon to match or GTFO.

Those are final numbers after negotiations

Microsoft RandomNumG Jan 22, 2020

So difficult to say actually. You could have interviewed anywhere else

No company is worth 100k TC difference

Location? All Seattle? Amazon looks like Bay Area offer. Else they got VP approval for SDE-1 in Seattle or Amazon at SDE-2 would have been 220-230K

BPwp83 OP Jan 22, 2020

Yes all Seattle

Credit Karma Blabberbox Jan 22, 2020

No one is going to beat 305k in Seattle. Not even for next couple of years, except FB maybe

Microsoft jzjcjd Jan 22, 2020

The sheer fact that others didn't match OCI says a lot.

Oracle cfcf Jan 22, 2020

Take OCI and work for few years to rest and vest. Be in touch of interviews and crack at higher level in other companies after few years
