Is it easy? Evaluating an HFT offer just for the money but don't want to be trapped in the c++ world forever

  • Hey there,
Which hft are you considering and what is the CTC they are offering.
To answer your question it becomes a bit hard not impossible, source: a friend tried to switch after spending 4yr in HFT space

    • 140k first year because of sign on.. calculating on the 37k bonus for first year.

  • Depends on the organization. If you are dealing with market data or order entry you will eat sleep and breath C++. Those skills will not help much for a systems design interview. A future tech company may very well need a C++ pro though.

And optiver is pretty famous for being almost entirely C++. It's not impossible but it has its own set of challenges.
