At vmware now. Not unhappy and total comp isnt bad. AWS has made an offer that is a small increase in total comp. Im not early in career and as i understand from many, aws is rarely at long term move for most. Looking for any opinions.
Stick to VMware. Go to AWS for worse WLB.
I’m a manager at AWS . Wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for mid/long term prospect.
Why do you say that?
Hiw many new hires sde 1s get piped each year at amazon?
For that small comp, you will be working a lot of late nights and be on-call like the 2nd week! Just be prepared!
Don't do it. VMware is figuring out the future of cloud and is a vastly better place to work than Amazon. Just don't.
VMware market cap is going to double or triple at a minimum with the new pivot towards SaaS, PaaS & IaaS. It would be foolish to move to AWS at this stage.
I left VMware for a FAANG company. I miss VMware a lot. Culture wise VMware is great. If you’re not unhappy and the comp doesn’t increase a lot, probably you shouldn’t go.
TC please. New and existing as well.
