Hi all. We are looking at this area of 94087 zoned to Cupertino schools. The elementary school is West Valley elementary.

Going by comments and reviews on google/yelp/greatschools, this school seems to have had a complete staff turnover in 2016. While it's rated 9/10, I wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience or information about the elementary school.
Thank you.

We got a home in west valley for the schools specifically as well as being in the best possible commute location to apple google and LinkedIn.
All 3 schools are close by and all teachers that turned over came from the same district. They also now have higher standard of teaching due to that turnover as they want to prove themselves. I would definitely recommend the school and the location. It’s tough to win the bidding wars but if you can manage it then it’s a great place to live

      Thank you, good to know!
There is a small part of 94087 that is west of Hwy 85, immediately adjacent to Los Altos - Belleville Way which is where West Valley elementary is located. Would you have any info/feedback on that neighborhood? It seems a bit secluded compared to rest of 94087 which is on the other side of Hwy 85 (around Fremont/Mary Ave). Does that smaller stretch near Belleville way have parks etc.?

The school playground itself is the best option that side of 85. It is a pretty good playground with nice play structures. If you come to the other side of 85 you have lot of options with San Antonio park which is a small park or the much nicer Serra park. Serra park is very good.

We bought an expensive home in 94087 for its schools. And I hate to admit that it wasn’t a wise decision.
I now advise my friends to not spend a ton more to buy a house in a good public school district, instead use a fraction of that on private schools ( if good school truly matter to you)
If you are buying for the location, it’s great. But if you are mainly spending extra for schools, I would advise against it.

Thanks for your input. Even if we were to send to private school, I feel a good public school district is desirable since it translates into (a) property appreciation and (b) lower crime.

True. But Bay Area is full of zip codes that don’t have 9/10 point schools, and are comparatively cheaper than great school districts, however they appreciate equally well due to the demand and are safe too. Great schools is not the end all when it comes to the bay.
