just got rejected after completing an onsite with Amazon. i want to share some helpful tips to my fellow blinders so they don't go through what I went through. position summary: this position was a technical PM for their open source project for aws. It was a really good role and the team has world class engineering. recruiter advice: after i passed phone screen my recruiter made a prep call, and told me that I should expect functional questions and LP questions. she also mentioned that I will have a system design round that would require me to have trade off discussion. what actually happened: there were no functional questions for me, neither there was any system design round fir which i prepped one entire week. All questions were LP based and thats where i got tripped, because i didn't have 3 examples of the same LP what is the take away: dont trust the recruiter when you are interviewing at amazon. her misguided tips cost me job and i am feeling really depressed. just focus on 3 examples of the LPs and even if they ask you tech or functional questions, you can get the offer just based on LPs. as far as PM-T goes, the technical aspect will be apparent in your example and resume. no need to prove to them that you can do a system design. whats next for me? at this point i don't know what other companies i should go for. i was really hoping to get this offer and so i will have to keep trying I guess.
Interesting no system design for pmt
