Assuming I couldn't get into FAANG or top unicorns, what's the next best choice for a new grad?

1. Small second-tier

"Rocket ship" startups like Affirm, Convoy, Flexport, Samsara, etc.

Private companies with a high growth rate, 100-1000 engineers, but not as competitive as Airbnb or Lyft.

Basically anything in breakoutlist.com, futureengine.org, or linkedin.com/pulse/linkedin-top-startups-2018-50-most-sought-after-us-daniel-roth/

2. Midsize second-tier

Recently IPO'd companies with name recognition and startup perks/culture.

May or may not be past their prime.

Think Box, Etsy, Palantir, or Yelp.

3. Large second-tier

10k+ employees

e.g. Bloomberg, PayPal, or Salesforce.

In my opinion, smaller companies give new grads more opportunities to learn, but larger companies help solidify best practices. Assuming similar TC, which is best to start a career?
