Got an offer to join Facebook Seattle next year. Just heard from someone that there isn't free parking, for real???

If there isn't free parking, how much is the parking? And is it charged daily or by month/quarter/year?

If parking is so ridiculously expensive, and most people take shuttles, where do the shuttles go? My HR didn't send me any shuttle info yet.

I'm also moving there with my 3 years old daughter, anyone has any recommendations? Such as good places that have good public elementary school, decent rent, close to FB shuttle stop?

Any gotchas at FB Seattle? #facebook #seattle

Lack of free parking is common in urban core of big cities. Where are you moving from?

  • Dexter building parking is $16/day. At arbor blocks ira $8/day. You can reimburse $50/month for parking, and you can expense $200/month for lyft to and from work

Facebook Seattle is in dense South Lake Union neighborhood with Amazon and Google, not open suburbs like Microsoft. No big parking lots so what they have is paid. Not sure about FB's shuttles but one of Google's routes is north through Fremont/Ballard area. Easy commute from there but rents can still be steep. They go down as you go north. My last renter moved to Seattle from Texas. To say that she had culture shock was an understatement

FB Seattle (main building) is between Aurora and SLU which is god awful to commute to. You either get backed up on the I-5 then have to go through the SLU clusterfuck, or you go down Aurora which is also pretty bad, but not as accessible as the I-5 so only an option for certain neighborhoods. If you want to work there your best bet is renting an apartment nearby and walking... Or just get stuck in traffic for hours.

  • They didnโ€™t let you join one of the offices on the east side (Redmond, Bellevue)?

Is the shuttle schedule and stops public? Or do I have to wait until my HR sent that to me?
