What is a reasonable time frame from accepting an offer to the start date? Is a month too much to ask if I'll need to relocate?

Can an offer be rescinded if I ask about extending the date?

A month is totally fine for a genuine reason such as relocating. You can include "need to wind up ongoing projects at current job" into the mix.

One month is super normal. Companies wait 3-4 months for visa ppl to get her H1b transferred.

1 month is totally reasonable. I am assuming you are including period with your current employer and a couple of weeks off. I would usually encourage someone joining my team to take a short break in between jobs so get the mental space and then come ready to work.

  • I initially requested 3 months and now gonna extend it to 4. Visa application process took way longer than I anticipated.

  • Just ask the recruiter. Don't be afraid of asking questions to them, they want you to join and they'll help you make it happen :)

It'll all depend on whether they're hiring you for a specific role and whatnot.
