Got PIP'd from Amazon, unable to get interview calls.Should I tell I am still working there?
Hi community,
Reposting as my original post got deleted.
I got PIP'd from Amazon in Q4 2021 and am unable to get interview calls while applying to new companies. I think the main reason for it is the 3 month career gap I have on my Resume? I know this is not ethical, but should I say I am still working there just to get interview calls and then somehow manage the situation later with immigration, if I get an offer.
My performance at work got worse due to some personal and family issues and I was eventually pip'ed out. I lost 2 close members of my family due to Covid and had to go back to my home country to support them for about 2.5 months which means I have a gap in my Resume. I couldn't use this time for my LC prep too, which is hurting me heavily now. I have been applying like crazy but one reason I feel I am not getting lots of interview calls due to this gap. Although I have a reason for it, no employer actually cares and will consider my profile to be weak in comparison with other candidates.
I guess, everyone knows about Amazon's PIP culture and they would assume that anyone who left in Q3 or Q4 might have a high possibility of being Pip'ed, which is clear red flag for the hiring team. Also, ATS ( automatic resume evaluation tool) might filter out your resume
Companies and managers lie to us all the time, so why not us. At the end of day, they just want someone with good skills and a positive attitude to get the job done.
Due to my Visa situation, I need to get a job ASAP and am willing to do anything it takes ( even work unpaid if I have to) .I have been preparing but haven't got an offer yet. I only have one more attempt at my H1 before my current Visa expires which means companies don't wanna invest in me.
Please share your suggestions to this. Would also appreciate any referrals please.

I don’t think recruiters are now worried about gaps, what I am recommending is just for your confidence when u land an interview. You will have something to speak on for the gap in your introduction and this way you will not be anxious during rest of your interview.
🤞 good luck 👍
Try to mask off any info that will reveal your identity and post your resume for a review.
Then once you do that, update the LinkedIn profile to reflect it appropriately. The. Upgrade to premium for 1 month and set that you are open for opportunities. The recruiters will find you.
If you are in SWE role, the demand is high.
Tough situation. You don't need to share about any gap. Just keep showing Amazon.
