Should senior IC’s be involved with team management?

Recently I’ve been asked to take on pseudo-management tasks like setting team goals with the PM, translating that into tickets for our team, assigning that to junior members and following up with them. My manager sees this as part of the responsibilities of a senior IC, even though they know I’m not trying to switch to management. I don’t enjoy this since it puts me in the position of chasing people for work. I don’t mind setting goals and tasks for myself. Do other senior IC’s find themselves in this position?

Amazing that people expect to be coddled like this. Every job deals with suppliers and customers. Learn to deal with them.
