I know it probably looks biased since I work here... but I used Asana at previous job, and the only people in my network that use Asana are all non-technical (mostly across marketing) - I would describe it this way, a more non-technical and friendly version of Jira

Used to use Asana at FB. Asana is more of a generalized company/project management tool. Less focused on commits/sprint/bugs tracking. Instead, its like a company wide management tool offering features for executives (mission, objectives, tracking progress of metrics) to ICs (projects and tasks tracking).

Jira is a dev tool/dashboard for tasks and bugs. Trello is a kanban board (for small teams of less than 10, not really for big orgs)

Jira was traditional software, monkey patched for agile. Asana is groundup built for Agile.
