A couple of days back I started this thread to help out folks getting laid off. Since then I have had 50+ people reaching out to me, and I have tried to help them all.

In some cases the interactions didn't go all well, so I am clarifying a few things:

1. No, I am not doing it for money, or personal benefits. I am doing this because I got laid off in the 2008 recession and there was no one to help.

2. No, I am not a racist, I am surprised I was accused of being one, because of this gesture. The accusations surprisingly came from both camps, I am Indian, and Indians accused me of being unfair to them, and non-indians accused me of trying to refer more Indians. Trust me, it isn't about your race. If the referral didn't go through, it is more likely to be a system glitch, than me trying to sabotage it.

3. Referrals aren't magic. It is more like an infinite dark abyss where your resume is likely to disappear(for msft). So if you aren't getting a call or email, contact me, I will see what ai can do.

4. There are a few ways to increases your chances of getting a call, contact me and let's discuss those over DMs.

5. I have run out of DMs for the time being, I used mine to help those folks who had already ran out of theirs, and needed to talk to me. I recommend you drop me a line here if you run out of DMs, we will figure something out.

6. Using a .edu email id doesn't work in the msft referral site, so please use a genetic email.

7. I have also seen, sometimes, and I don't know why, giving a phone number of a different region while applying jobs for another doesn't work. It is sporadic, and I suspect it is a bug.
