Any positives of choosing Amazon? all the signs weigh heavily towards choosing LinkedIn. Any room for negotiating more? Also, how difficult is it to get refreshers at Linkedin? Getting mixed responses about the possibility of refreshers in LinkedIn.

From 25 to 63, that’s a good jump. Congratulations OP!

What about this applied research engineer role? Is this an ML role and are you phd?

      OP
I don't know exactly what they are looking for, but for me yes, I have a few pubs in ICLR, NeurIPS. And yes, they expect me to develop models and test them out, basically implementing papers, modifying them.

What exactly does an Applied Researcher/ Applied Scientist do ?
And what are your educational qualifications ?

Also, if there's no TC upside IDK why you would consider Amazon.😅

    • Congrats for the offers. What's your educational qualification

      OP
Yeah, but I heard it was easy to get refreshers, TC increase if you perform well at Amazon, but again PIP scares me.
      I'm have a B.Tech in CS.

  • Team name OP? Is it really Applied research engineer? I have a swe offer and my offer letter also had applied research engineer as title.

My work won’t be in ML. Is it really ML role?

Also was this Li initial offer?

    • I really doubt it man. I have same yoe and had 52 cash competing offer. And my offer is lesser.

I guess it’s cuz I am from MS and my vesting sould be diff.

With 32.5 base and 100k stocks, i feel lowballed now
      Mar 26
    • Wow lowballed for 60+ tc in same yoe.
Quick advice, say no to the offer and apply other place.
Op is ml engineer not a leetcode monkey and booking knowledge of system design.

LinkedIn pros: Higher TC, Good WLB, Free Food(all 4 meals), Free LinkedIn Premium for life(Yes, even after you leave), 1 paid week off for the whole company every year, phone (iPhone/GalaxyS latest model) + phone bill reimbursement.

Amazon pros: SLIGHTLY better brand name("FAANG"). MAYBE good TC growth if you work really hard, deliver good results and have a decent relation with manager.

I'd go for LinkedIn without any doubts.
Down the line if you don't like your work at LinkedIn or if you really want to work at Amazon try after a few years for higher levels.
