I've had health issues since I joined and I took the medical LOA for a while. After I came back to my original team, the medical work accommodation was approved by both my doctor and the case manager from DLS team. However, I still got the pip during my work accommodation. The manager/HR said it's not related to my work accommodation but it's me who underperformed and didn't reach the Lv4 bar.
Things got really worse after I received the pip documentation few days ago. I almost couldn't work but cry all day long, because I lost my health, my last H1B lottery, the salary etc. I'm so frustrated to read the emails/doc where "my mistakes" were documented by the manager.
I know some people might choose to take FMLA/LOA within the 5 days after receiving the pip doc, and use the additional time to take a rest or find jobs. I probably would be able to take FMLA, given I'm still in the work accommodation and indeed had serious medical issues. But I'm afraid what my manager/HR will do to me after I'm back from the FMLA (e.g. prevent me from taking the severance?)
If you were me, what would you choose?
TC: 167k (severance package is roughly 2-3 months)
Tenure: 2 years

Do the above, and pause the process asap.
Stay strong for now, think emotionally later.
If your leave starts later, then your severance would reduce to a third, but atleast it'll buy you time for a new job, and pause those shitty emails
