Happy Thanksgiving fellow Blinders!

I’m a former Controls Analyst in the process of finishing a Business Analyst bootcamp. I’ve been in Electrical Construction for the past three years. With the 50-80hr work weeks and the salary ceiling being ~$115k, I’m left with the innate desire to better optimize my time and money. Business Analysts: which sub-industries of tech and which certifications would you recommend?

Thank you in advance for your insight. I really appreciate it.

You will almost never make 115 as a BA….very very difficult, Disney in nyc offered me 135, so in a LCOLA you’re looking at 80. My advice, learn dbt and become an analytics engineer. It’s a major sleeper rn

I’m starting to see 125 and below what I can expect from a BA role. Although a few of the BAs that spoke for my bootcamp spoke about juggling 2 or 3 roles at once, I’m not sure if I want to dedicate that much time/effort. I’m working on cultivating a better WLB.

I’m up to the challenge. I’ll research data build tools and see what I can tackle. Appreciate your direction.

The closest/easiest transition might be to business intelligence engineer. Look that up. Amazon hires lots of BIEs and it's a very good stepping stone to other better companies and roles.
