So I'm currently a decent level (director) with a experience at mid tier companies (roughly 10 years). Tc: about 200 base+20% bonus, and roughly 200k/year in rsus that vest 25%/yr at a company who stock dropped 50% in a year. We're looking at around 300k for a non tech role. An internal Google recruiter reached out with a "head of" title (so I'm not sure what the title is) for a team that sounds super interesting. I did some research online I think I found the job posting and it's listed as 'manager'. I have a call scheduled for tomorrow. Is this too low of a level (2 down?--I know titles at G are harder). What can a manager level non-tech role pay at big G: if I asked for even 180-200 is that out of the realm of possibilities (NYC or sf it's listed)? It's a dream opportunity (still need to jump through hoops) to work at Google. But don't want to take too big a step back financially. Any insights going into this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi it’s me (the person mentioned above). What kind of non tech role is it? Manager level is L6 for most roles. But it could go up to L7 which is only one level below Director (for most roles...some also have L7.5). TC opportunities will depend on what type of role it is.
Never ever reveal your current TC. It it somewhere between an L3 (fresh grad) and L4 pay. In your interviews, boast about how much influence you have in the company and how many people report up to you. Once you have significant leadership experience, you will start off with L5+ levels. I don’t know what is your experience but if you can get L6, that is super decent, and you should shoot for at least L5. If you can get L7+, then you are a superstar.
If you’re Director at mid tier company and only 10 years of experience I don’t think you will get L7 at google. You’d be lucky if you get L6. “Head of” is usually L7. I think non tech L6 range from 350-450k.
You don't have to talk numbers right away, you can see what roles they have in mind that can fit your skillset. You can also ask the recruiter what the pay range is. From X to Y amounts. My recruiter let me know a broad range when I hemmed and hawed on my TC requirement.
What’s this non tech role at G ?

The woman who made the pregnancy thread regarding open pregnancy in-office @ G said she was getting 300k non-tech, bumped up from 200k the previous year. If she sees this thread maybe she can chime in.
