I have an IC3 offer and the recruiter said I will go over a 4 week bootcamp after I join.

Can someone at Facebook share what they learn in this bootcamp? How was the experience?

  • Boot camp is great. You’ll learn about technical subjects in general, and then mostly Facebook specific classes. After week 3 you’ll also start sitting and working with teams as you look for the one you want to join

  • Bootcamp is awesome, and everyone goes through it.

It's not very intense, mostly just getting familiar with tools / workflow, and sitting with different teams. The idea is that you don't just get randomly assigned to some random team working on something really boring, like most other companies.

The downside is that it can be pretty hard to figure out if a team is right for you.

Team selection is not going to be an issue for me since I am joining the Enterprise Engineering org. They work on Internal FB tools and also FB@Workplace.
Do we go through React/Hack tutorials as well? I do not have any experience with those.

    • There are plenty of classes, lectures etc, but the general philosophy is to learn by doing. You can choose to attend what you want based on how you learn, I skipped most of my bootcamp classes and chose to work on tasks for teams right away instead, YMMV.

Hack is very easy to learn and there are usually plenty of people willing to help around (especially during class).

I don't use React so can't comment there.
