After over a decade at BBG moved to a new company this year. I was aware I had to payback the money they spent processing my green card as I signed that contract but the amount boggled my mind. In my case the cost of i140, eb3 downgrade and 485 filing came to over 20k USD. And I moved with just my EAD because of the dates retrogression. Didn't realize it was going to be such a big hit and I am told there are no exceptions. Anyone planning to leave please keep this in the back of your mind.

To be very clear, I loved my time at BBG. They take great care of their employees and I had no complaints during my time there. However this policy and esp the amount feels overwhelming and not fair given we don't have a say in how processing is done and neither are we aware of the amount that is being charged till we leave. Just a heads-up for anyone in the same boat. #workvisa #greencard

Wow, you have to repay it when you leave, no matter how long itโ€™s been? Thatโ€™s some glorious dystopian workers rights shit right there.

  • You can easily cover that with the sign in bonus from your next company, getting a green card is super expensive, youโ€™re lucky someone committed to get it for you

Damn I'd hate to have to reimburse all my medical bills because my employer took a "gamble" in hiring me. My medical insurance is through work..... Guess I'd have to work till I'm 90 and dead to avoid paying a fee for leaving? That's the world isBa21 lives in

Employers sponsor green cards because they cannot find workers here. Stop making it sound like a big favor. It's a transaction. Secondly, if they need the money back why don't they ask employees to pay it upfront? Because people won't take their bullshit offer in that case. I'm surprised by this contract term. What a piece of shit employer.

Why do you not want to pay pack? Isnt it like asking someone to help pay for your shit and not returning their money even though you agreed to pay back? Man up and shell out that money. They have no interest in charging you additional money thats essentially pennies for them.

    • Dude you really laugh your ass out a lot, none of these issues are particularly related to me I am out of this shit. It was my opinion from past experiences. What is better for me and what are my priorities are my business you cannot possibly understand that nor I intend to take your approval. I was born in India and I wish some things would have been different and maybe things will change for better and I would go back some day but thatโ€™s me. Enjoy your life bashing India peace out.
