Speculate. Go. Got an offer this month. how much higher than 13.4 billion is their valuation? how to value their equity tc 550k L6 plaid TC 650k l6 #plaid #startups #tech
OP, would you mind giving offer details? There are few posts in Blind and public on how to evaluate the equity. Hope it helps
Do plaid is full remote?
Their valuation is 8b at most if they went public
How did you come up with 8b
Curious, how did you came up with the TC from plaid offer. Your just added the strike price x option shares as is to your TC?
No options. Just RSUs at last valuation.
When the market picks back up, I’d say 1.5x. Of course people are going to give you answers based on market conditions right now. Considering that they wouldn’t ipo right now, that’s not very helpful. Also it’s important to consider a few other things with them. Compared to other companies, barely any competition, really good moat and business model, new products like pay by bank. Finally as interest rates rise, they’d be even more positively impacted as a result I’d think.
Can you explain the 1.5x? How will interest rates rises impact valuation? One would think rising interest rates would decrease the valuation since the risk people are willing to take is lower with high growth companies.
Rising interest rates means better for banks which should mean better for plaid’s bottom line. I say 1.5x because of price action in private markets during the highs. It seemed like their valuation rose to around $20 billion in reality.
Tbh I’m struggling with this myself. I can barely find any info on them other than their last funding round and estimated revenue. How has anyone valued them without basic insights into their metrics (operating or financial)?
Looks like a great offer. YOE? Infra?
Why does infra matter?
Anyone from Plaid want to refer me? 10 yoe (total) experience in the quant hedge fund space and now at Google. Happy to share more about myself if you DM me.
I joined a few months ago, I agree that the 13.4 valuation was at a bad time and the market has corrected since then. I'm super bullish about our future though, in the interview process we have 'sell' chats that go into details on how we plan to increase our TAM and I'm really excited about it. The way I see plaid is as a safe 'pre-ipo' option. Little chance of .5x, safe chance of 1x or 1.5x and some chance to 2-3x or more in the next 2 years or so.
Same as MQ market cap?
