Hey Blind,

I have a circuit/panel interview with Tesla for an entry level (not sure exact level) product manager position and just want to know what to expect. Recruiter said interview would consist of a presentation and then 1:1 interviews with senior team members. The team members are staff engineers, product designers, and product managers.

What types of questions should I expect and what would be the best way to prepare? I'm trying to break in from consulting and any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Did they give a topic for your presentation? I'd say communication skill is the most important skill set to amplify - Ppt quality, delivery, clarity in thought and being concise

You can always share in percentages and generic wording to get the point across, without compromising confidentiality. They probs don't care about the specific thing you worked on, just what the outcome was.

Ummm, I would only say, talk about everything that you know. And mainly dont just make it like a big ppt and present. Rather keep the ppt limited to max 8 slides and explain the rest.

If you do not know something, just say you are not sure but are willing to learn and ask them to explain it back to you.
    They like such people.

Focus on a great achievement - your greatest if anything like that exists. Talk passionately. Expect the panel to question every slide. Amplify what you did exactly and why vs. what the team did. The time rolls by really fast. Best of luck.

Thank you! Could you expand a bit on the vs what the team did bit? Is it usually better to just speak to your individual actions or more towards convincing the team to take action?

Individual actions help to judge your impact. Helps to make you stand out. You can still tie it to motivating the team but again your own actions are what should stand out and why you took those actions. Drop in some first engineering principles as the thinking behind your thought processes and you are good to go.
