After joining blind - I have been motivated to look for a new job (a job that is challenging and also pays better ). However this has been my experience so far (data engineering roles )

Current TC - $170k

Citibank- cleared all rounds, TC offered $130k

Bank of America - Cleared all rounds , TC offered $145k

Meta - Recruiter ghosted after loop , assuming rejected

Accenture Federal - Cleared all rounds , TC $150k

Red hat - cleared all rounds , TC $120k

Salesforce - Recruiter ghosted after initial screen

I feel bad rejecting all the offers , what am I doing wrong ? Any tips or advices

I did - they mentioned that they are going to repost the job req and if they don’t find anyone by year end they will reach out again and see if they can offer a better comp .

Set total comp expectations up front before going thru interview loops. True tech has a stratospheric increase in TC over non-tech/lightly tech companies, especially below 10 yoe

I have started doing that, in fact with BofA and Accenture I was very clear with my expectation during the initial recruiter screening.

  • You are on the right track. If you had set the salary expectation and was low balled after the interview , ask the recruiter the reason. They might mostly come back saying your performance on the interview was not good enough. What ever feed back good or bad, take it and see whether there is some thing you could have done better. I have seen a lot of scenarios where interview performance is used to determine the level and hence the salary. Don’t get disappointed or desperate, remember it’s not about the time or number of tries , it’s about the final goal.
