401k or Roth 401k?

Thoughts? Which one do you do?

I’ve always done traditional 401k then rolled into IRA. does it make sense to start roth 401k now?

    Always max out Roth first. This is because your income and also taxes will likely increase over time.

      There’s no guarantee for anything. But the odds of taxing ROTH all over in he future are slim.

      That's not how it works...one good example - if you buy an annuity (a spia) with a Roth and start taking distributions, it's tax free income.... Which is the ultimate goal in retirement... The purpse of a 401k.

      They can't go back and decide to re-tax income... By what you're saying they could go back and re-tax everything and nothing is safe.

      Regardless of their leanings economically, a libertarian would still likely do a Roth because they know taxes will increase.

    Definitely Traditional.

    If you don't understand the difference, or Roth seems like a no-brainer, you want Traditional.

    A lot of people who know nothing about retirement accounts or taxes giving advice in here. Any CFP or CPA would say Roth.

      The market isn't going to be hot forever, and a lot of people that are on here will probably see their jobs automated away, ironically by other people on here. If you're the latter than good on you, but there are more people that need sound guidance when it comes to their finances.
