I got the final offer from Splunk (P4: 230k, 15%, 440k/3yrs, TC=411k), probably the highest offer for P4. They said I didn’t meet their bar for principal but P4-high.
However my wife wants me to stay at Uber (5a, 450k, 5 yoe) since she sees the high TC and rising stock price soon after COVID . Recently my team is moving forward to integrate 3rd party tools so basically I’m doomed (frontend). I’m really tired of being a TC chaser these years.
We also see Splunk is not doing well since last year, and CTO’s departure, etc. What do guys think? Should I accept this offer? Do people feel downgraded when moving from high tier companies to smaller companies? Or should I just stay at Uber and prepare for more interviews? I just finished a round of interview with 12 companies I wanted to go and got no good offers (Apple ICT4, Google L3, Databricks L4). Splunk is highest one I got so far.
Also, if I’m at the Splunk P4-high, does it mean I have to promote soon otherwise I won’t get any increase next year? I feel bad to reject Splunk since the team and recruiter worked so hard to put this offer.
