I am less than a year analyst who works for an M&A boutique in LA area.

I am wondering how others commission structures look like. Like everyone else, I receive my base every other week. However, I haven't got my commission yet since I guess I wasn't in my official deals as a sole analyst yet till one that I just got in from this March.

I guess my question is basically, "Do you guys also get a portion of retainer the company receives?" or just base salary and sale commission?

  • Bruh no one else here gets a fee based model. That’s pretty sick though if you’re having killer M&A years, however, future not looking bright

  • If you work at an investment bank you typically get an annual bonus that reflects your contribution. You don’t get cut into individual deals.

Analysts are all year-end discretionary. MDs are paid a base and receive a percentage of fees earned for each deal they source
