Is 1.5 mil enough to retire in bay area?
Passed phone screen. They asked data munging, statistics and LC medium. Recruiter says it is applied scientist role in infra. Said will interview for E6. Said that infra is part of engineering and thus it is E6 and not ICT6. I have YOE 10. ML PhD. Currently L6 AS at Amazon. TC about 380-460k depending on stock value. Would this role be a good choice in terms of TC and interesting work? Current work is interesting and dealing with interesting ML models. I have heard bad things about DS roles, wondering if research DS any better.
Does E6 then pay the same as SWE? Did you also consider MLE? Interested in how research DS compares to AS at Amazon too in terms of work, applied ml, and comp.
I don't know if it does pay the same. Haven't gotten the offer. Asked recruiter but they could only reveal base which was 200+. I considered MLE as well but I feel it is too much software engineering, deployments etc. The RDS interview includes data wrangling, stats, ML and LC coding so on paper it sounds like AS at Amazon. Reality may be different of course.
I answered half questions correct., sql great ., python average .. my chances ?,
What position did you interview for?
Could you share a bit about the data munging questions?
OP what was the offer for?
What’s ICT6?
IC non-eng.
I’d love to have your resume/ experience🥺. Good luck!
