Hi Folks,

I am currently interviewing for a Data Engineer, Infrastructure Strategy position at Facebook. The recruiter tells me that this position is different than normal DE position. I know that a normal DE position at FB mostly involves writing SQL queries only (like a BI engineer). I wanted to check with people already in Facebook, especially at the same position to clarify how DE at Infrastructure Strategy team is different than DE at Product teams. How is this role different than SWE?

You will likely have to build data pipelines from tools to their hive backend and attend a lot of "design meetings" to help them figure out how to calculate org metrics and store them. The pipelines at meta also require a fair amount of python knowledge to build and deploy. Best of luck.
