LinkedIn vs. Niantic senior offer. How would you choose?

Apr 3 7 Comments

Dear folks,

I recently got verbal offers from both companies. My background:
Who am I?
- 5 years of experience in an ad-tech startup after graduation
- product engineer
- experienced with big data technologies (like batch & stream processing)
- less experienced in building services or APIs, and solving problems in a distributed system
What am I looking for?
- I am trying to broaden my domain knowledge/experience in my early career.
- I'd like to further develop my leadership skills and become a manager in 2 years
- I am more of a fan of big/famous companies in my current stage

Offer details:
(both based at Sunnyvale)
1. LinkedIn senior: 200k base, 10% bonus, 360k RSU over 4 years, 50k sign-on (1st year: $360k TC)
- backend team: less data-driven: building/developing tools for improving the productivity of other engineers
2. Niantic senior: 200k base, 18% bonus, 12000 RSU over 4 years, 30k sign-on (1st year: $430k TC, estimated $57/share with current 9B evaluation). (Rsu would be zero if no ipo, they don’t plan to go public in the short term)
- data/ML team: quite similar to what I've been doing over the past years.

-----------------------------
current TC: 180k

I would really appreciate it if you can leave your reason in the comment below. Thanks in advance!
