I thought it went very well and I covered a good deal of details on handling concurrency and trade offs but with recruiters not providing any feedback I am unable to understand.

At this point , I am really willing to pay good money ๐Ÿ’ฐ if I get to shadow successful candidate interviews and learn.

Also, not clearing interviews is making me feel I am the worst engineer which I know is not true but how do I help get out of that feeling.

I do have 2 offers but not in the nicest state of mind. So end of rant with 2 questions

1. How much is the detail one looks in 45 minutes and how do I get good at it ? Sometimes it seems impossible if you are quizzed in an area you are not familiar with. DDIA done and grokking too, Also watched bunch of youtube videos. Maybe articulation is an issue?

2. How to not feel the shittiest developer ever when facing rejection?

I also fail these (or get down leveled) and think articulation is the issue. The answer is so obvious to me I donโ€™t feel the need to explain it as if the interview was 5 years old. But they always act like it

The most recent was designing a calendar. I talked about needing an API and this mofo tells me why do we need an API already. How the fuck will you store shit and invite others if you donโ€™t communicate outside of the client? So fucking irritating, and my annoyance shines through because I hope theyโ€™re pretending to be idiots but thereโ€™s a modicum of doubt that they arenโ€™t

    • What did u deep dive into? Sounds like you just regurgitated what everyone does initially. I looked at Sr sys design interviewee feedback at TikTok and commonality for all passes is they all deep dive into system internals like how Cassandra works for example. Regurgitating Cassandra documentation shows you know in depth you know how it works, and the interviewers seemed to like that. Even though you could literally have the documentation open on another screen and read off it since it was virtual interview lol..

I have developed few services from scratch so I would say yes, But I have never worked with large scale data ingestion pipelines which is not my area of expertise.

It is fine bro. Interviews are a hit or a miss. Your 400K TC tells me you are good at your job. Take one of the good offers and move on. If not, keep interviewing until you land the offer you like. Perhaps try some paid mock interview companies but not sure how much they will help.
