I recently interviewed at Atlassian and got down leveled to P4. Supposedly my feedback was good and I was borderline P5.

I received the following offer,
165k base 10% bonus
225k in stocks over four years.
Asked for a sign on bonus and got 10k.

I live in NYC so this is a zone B offer.

Anyone else get similar offers? Is this a good P4 offer?

  • FYI NYC is technically zone B, only the Bay area is zone A. 7% drop in base if you move to zone C or 10% increase in pay if you move to the Bay area.

    • Different countries have different zoning. I believe Canada is all 1 zone so no difference no matter where you work.

      Ah I must’ve gotten mixed up, the recruiter quoted a difference of 50k, but that might have been across different levels and I misheard.

      Thanks! I think a cool thing about their coding portions is they're typically pretty 'easy' problems that they expand on over time. So you might want to focus on language fundamentals and communicating well over reversing a few dozen more binary trees. Also, make sure you have your behavioral stuff down pact, have answers and stories to most of the typical questions, there is quite a bit of that too.

    My last tc was 210. I have a senior offer at zendesk with a much higher base(190) and similar TC and I'm trying to figure out the best course of action. I just thought from some of the posts here and elsewhere that high tier p4 comp in hcol areas is closer to 240-260 but I could be mistaken.

    • Yeah unfortunately they tier Bay Area as tier 1 and NYC is tier 2 (doesnt make sense imo). So the 240-260s you are seeing is P4 for Bay Area. Ask them to go higher in RSU and sign on

    Would confirm that they may actually grant higher stock grants for HCOL area offers.

      The recruiter mentioned that while your base comp gets increased from moving to a higher HCOL zone, your stock grant remained the same. Did they actually grant you more stock for moving?

    • I havent moved but our compensation team told me its a 47% stock adjustment
