The home office classification is nothing new. I know many doing it already. But the working up to 50% time without manager approval IS new. For some orgs this is business as usual but some other orgs thisβll be a huge change. Some of the teams are super anal about making everyone be in the office, even when most of their meetings are with people in other buildings.
Yes wfh was def silently discouraged on my team so Iβm excited about this. I enjoy going to the office on some days, but the commute from Seattle sucks so this is a perfect setup!
I guess itβs the beginning of outsourcing for tech. It says you can leave the country and still work for Microsoft. Aka we can hire workers from outside of the US
Yes relocation existed, but not at this kind of widespread level that we are going to be seeing. If it works well with no loss to productivity, then yes it is the start of outsourcing
