DoorDash trades at a significant premium to Uber’s Delivery segment (based on implied valuation). Is Uber not expected to capture the delivery opportunity?

DoorDash (and some other gig companies) have a key difference that allows them to save on labor costs: they don’t verify work eligibility. They don’t even require a US ID. Uber does require eligibility to work in the US.

I think you nailed the valuation discrepancy on the head. The question is - would you buy in before everyone else catches on?

Just stating from a consumer perspective: Doordash with doordash pass was really cheap for me. Uber there were so many extra fees that made it costly. Same restaurant same food same time(uber was 50$ and doordash was 28$) . I dont know why. I had doordash pass without which it would have been 33$ but still a massive price difference

I think both are horrible business models with no brand loyalty or stickiness. Everyone I know just chooses the one that is cheaper. Similar to Uber and Lyft. Stay away from delivery/transport services.

DoorDash doesn’t have a ride sharing business, so this isn’t an apples to apples comparison.

It is apples to apples if you were to compare the sum of the parts valuation of the two companies. While not an exact science, the approach shows a massive discrepancy (or a justified gap) in valuation of Uber’s delivery segment vs. Door Dash’s market valuation relative to sales.
