just got an offer from an IC design company in Austin as a sr. design engineer. The company is offering 160k + 180k/4 yr + 15% bonus + 30k signon and about 50k relo (not cash). Currently working as a small team design manager in Atlanta for 140k + 45k/yr refresh + 20% bonus. i have 12yoe and a master degree. should i take the offer or talk to my current employer to match it? i know it can hardly compare with the SW guys. but this is the best i can do right now. any thoughts?
It's a good offer and Austin has a lower cost of living + no state income tax
What company is it??
Please don't move to austin. We're full right now.
There's at least one of these in every city.
Is Austin a good place for new grads? It's strange actually because I don't see much of entry level positions in companies there ..though there's quite a lot of senior level positions.
Pretty god offer for HW. I think only Apple can beat it, maybe Nvidia.
If I were to assume that the company was Apple based on the comp and stock. It seems low for 12 YoE. But maybe someone from Apple Austin can chime in. Is this for an ICT4?
Once you mention anything to your current employer all loyalty will be broken and you’ll be deemed a flight risk. You’ll be worse off even if they match at the end. Make up your mind an act. And yeah ATX is full at this point.
Ooo which company?
That is a very good offer
sound like Apple
How would this scale for the Bay Area??

From my experience, if your manager is good with you and the matching will apply immediately, that is the only case you can continue with your current employer, in any other case like a**hole manager or delaying in the match take the offer and never look back.
