FB E5 to Google T4?

Mar 10, 2018 63 Comments

Got confirmation from recruiter I got T4 approved from HC. On to team matching phase now.

I have 9 years experience (5 at FB). I am not sure if Google can match my pay at T4. I also got Amazon SDE3 offer. Not interested in Amazon.

[Edit] I make ~$360k TC (thanks to massive stock gains) with ~$175k base.

Has anyone made the move and whats your experience?

    Haha no.

At T4, they can’t match your current compensation. Did you tell them what you make now?

Why is Google wasting everybody’s time here...

EDIT: I can’t respond because I’ve been posting too much, and Blind told me to come back tomorrow 😂

Anyway, I was going to say, if the OP gave an outstanding interview performance, with his number of years of experience, especially 5 of them at Facebook, he should have gotten T5.

Just FYI, median for L5 is about 330k. For L4 it’s about 260k. Data based on internal spreadsheet, not random Blind posts, which mention ridiculous numbers.

I am used to being downleveled. I came to FB from MSFT, where I was Sde2/61. I got hired as E3 with 4 yrs experience.

Got to E4 in 6 months. My guess is if i am underleveled i will get promoted in a year or two at Google.

I'm sure your google package might be even lower to what you have at fb. I had similar situation, e5 offer from fb and l4 google. Google was not able to come close to e5 but somehow recruiter arranged two additional rounds of design interviews at google. After going through them I was able to get l5. Long story short, ask your recruiter if it's possible to get l5.
