Coming to the bay area very soon, with a 124k base and a TC of ~ 170k. I'm in the process of making a budget chart, and am looking for feedback on whether my current budget idea is reasonable.
I've already found an apartment to live with another professional.

After-tax Monthly Base: ~$6800
Rent: $2000
Transportation: $600 (e-bike, splitting gasoline, Uber, Caltrain, etc)
Groceries: $400
Restaurants: $500
Clothes: $150
Entertainment/Trips: $350
ESPP: ~$1000
Roth 401(k): $680 (maxed)
Remaining Savings: ~$950

Rest of my TC is going straight to savings.

TC: 170k (Year 1)
YOE: 0 (new grad)

Edit: I'm in South Bay, not SF.
Also, Monthly Amount is after HSA deduction.

Looks good. Are you thinking you’re going to get a place on your own for 2k in SF?

I'm actually living in South Bay since it's closer to work, but may do so after a year or so.

    • Yeap. Realized I still need to look the part so I set aside $700 a month for a nice shoe/shirt/belt/watch here and there. Also, feels nice do walk into a mall and come out with something nice for yourself. Otherwise what are we working towards? 😂😂

Which part of the bay? If it’s SF $500 for going out could go pretty quickly depending how much you go out, but also I wouldn’t expect to spend $600 on transportation so I think the total number makes sense
